Today in IT 480...

The First New Post

It's been a year and a half since my last post in my IT 100 blog. Now I'm in a 400 level course, that's an exciting advancement in my ITucation. I intend to design a web site in this course that delivers something viable and worth viewing to an audience. I would like to know how certain web domain sale sites work. Do I own the site permanently, indefinately? Do I have to repay each year? What are my legal rights when purchasing a site from certain providers? Do I own my content or does someone else own it? I am interesting in purchasing a site but I want to own the site exclusively. My expectations for this course are that I learn how to purchase and design a mutli-page web site.

Today in IT 100...

Alice

Sweet, sultry Alice, she’s always tempting, but never cooperative. Today we presented our Alice presentations in our last IT 100 class. It wasn’t a sad day per say, yet a day of new beginnings. We shall leave, yet be ever so knowledgeable of IT 100. I know how to use Excel better than I ever thought possible. I can write simple HTML for designing web sites. I’ve begun to tame Alice, yet she’s still a beast of her own. One day I’ll tame her, perhaps in the next frontier. I’ve learned, mostly embellished my current talents, and am better for it. Thank you IT 100, maybe we’ll meet again.

Presentations

IT 100 is a course of many colors. Not only are we taught a great many things about IT, but we also are versed in Public Speaking. This goes well with our other course, Public Speaking. The three year program is starting to mimic a real business environment. We have the option of doing presentations as if we are working in a corporation trying to sell our pitch for some new great product. Also, the courses are almost intertwined, which is interesting in itself. The speeches went over decently, however the criteria is sometimes hard to match. It is difficult to over perform in this environment; there is a large amount of work to be completed in a very short time.

Today in IT 100...

Grating

Grinding and sloshing through the muck today. Today, college is a realization. Grading is grating, it’s harder than expected. I’ve learned that my work should be at it’s highest standard in every assignment I do, even if the assignment seems trivial. I have to realize that things that seem trivial to me are still real things which should be done to the extreme. From now on I am going to attempt to make things more professional, less personal(except for this of course). I am also going to try to embellish on seemingly simple things. The grading scale is not just about understanding the topic and following the instructions, it’s about going above and beyond the pack and acting like the college student I am.

Confusion

Finally, we’re learning things I’ve never even heard before. I’m having a lot of fun with the web page and writing in HTML, or XHTML, I think it is HTML, but I thought we weren’t going to be taught that, so I’m slightly confused about which one I’m writing in. Confusion is good, it’s motivation to learn. A slight amount of an overloaded feeling crept in after we followed the functions of one process of a computer’s billion a second. However, the overload was only slight and I own a surge protector, so it worked out.

Easy Going

We did not discuss too much today. We basically troubleshot common computer problems and were assigned more work to do. I expect this course to become more challenging. IT is also starting to get interesting.

Today in IT 100...

"White Rapids"

Class flies by, it goes very quickly. We are learning a great deal about a great many things. Although nothing has stumped me, so to say, there is nothing I can't figure out, the course load has been challenging. I am learning about time management almost more than the subject. It’s still early and I expect to add to my repertoire many things about IT, and how to use my computer to it’s potential. I bought this computer for a reason, and I expect to use it, IT one hundred should show me how.
